Nationwide BRE 365 Infiltration Test for Drainage and SuDS ApprovalA BRE 365 infiltration test is required where sustainable drainage systems rely on ground infiltration. Planning authorities often request this test to confirm soil permeability and soakaway feasibility. For this reason, accurate and compliant testing is essential before finalising drainage design. At Evolution Safety Solutions, we carry out structured infiltration testing nationwide. Our reports are suitable for planning submission, drainage consultants, and building control. What Is a BRE 365 Infiltration Test?A BRE 365 infiltration test measures how quickly water drains into the ground. The methodology follows BRE Digest 365: Soakaway Design and supports the design of soakaways and infiltration-based drainage systems. The test determines:Soil infiltration rateGround permeabilitySuitability for soakawaysFeasibility of infiltration-based SuDS systemsBecause drainage performance depends on reliable ground data, testing must be conducted correctly and documented clearly. When Is Infiltration Testing Required?Local authorities commonly require infiltration testing where:New residential developments are proposedCommercial developments require surface water strategy approvalExtensions increase impermeable areasSustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are plannedPlanning conditions require permeability verificationIn most cases, drainage designers cannot finalise soakaway calculations without verified infiltration rates. For official guidance, refer to UK Government SuDS planning advice:https://www.gov.uk/guidance/flood-risk-and-coastal-changeHow We Conduct the TestWe follow BRE Digest 365 methodology carefully.Firstly, we excavate a trial pit to the required depth. Next, we pre-soak the pit to simulate saturated ground conditions. Then, we fill the pit and measure the rate at which the water level falls. Finally, we calculate infiltration rates and prepare a structured report. The £850 vat provides a trial pit of 1.2mtr depth by 400mm x 40mm as a minimum in hand diggable conditions. Our hole stops if the ground is impenetrable by hand digging. This costs is based on hand digging with the client providing water for the test. Excavators are not included in this cost and can be provided at additional costs. If we are unable to complete the test due to conditions being different to what is described or advised, then additional costs maybe charged to cover a return visit.Because precision matters, we ensure accurate timing, correct pit dimensions, and full documentation. What You ReceiveFollowing completion of the test, you receive:Confirmed infiltration rate (Vp value)Site location detailsPit dimensions and methodologyPhotographic evidenceCalculations and resultsA clear written report suitable for planning submissionAs a result, drainage consultants can proceed with soakaway design confidently. Why Choose Evolution Safety Solutions?Nationwide CoverageWe operate across the UK. Consequently, developers, contractors, and homeowners can rely on consistent professional delivery.Compliant MethodologyWe follow BRE 365 testing standards carefully. As a result, reports meet planning authority expectations.Clear and Practical ReportingOur reports are easy to understand and straightforward to submit. In addition, we provide photographic evidence and transparent calculations.Independent and Objective ServiceWe are not linked to drainage installation contractors. Therefore, our results remain independent and reliable.Frequently Asked QuestionsHow long does testing take?Testing typically takes several hours. However, duration depends on soil conditions and infiltration rate. When will I receive the report? We issue reports promptly following testing and calculation verification.Do you operate nationwide?Yes. We provide infiltration testing across the UK.Speak to a BRE 365 Infiltration Test SpecialistIf you require a compliant BRE 365 infiltration test to support drainage design or planning approval, we can assist quickly and professionally.Call: 03333 399 037Email: [email protected]
